I started the Unreal Fellowship knowing nothing about how to use Unreal, but excited to learn. I wasn't quite sure how it would go... but here is my first project, a short film, made completely inside Unreal.
Not only was it my first time using the software (which is amazing by the way), but it was also my first time ever making a short of any kind. It was... terrifying! But also really fun! Being responsible for every aspect of a project is an exciting thing to work on from the idea, the visuals, the music, etc.
I have to thank everyone who helped keep me up through the past several weeks, especially my wife Nicole. Of course thank you to the Unreal team and Brian Pohl for giving me the opportunity, and to Alex and Gnomon for letting me focus on this. A huge Thank You to James Thompson for writing some amazing music and being a wonderful collaborator with this as well. Even though this was a solo project, there's no way I could have done it in a vacuum.
I have to say that I didn't expect to have so much fun making something like this. Unreal has really opened it up so that I feel capable of making a moving image/short as compared to static image and already have ideas of what to do in the future... but maybe next time in Unreal 5 😃
